Dear yogis,
I know it's not August yet, but I wanted to send my monthly Loveletter out a little early so it gets to you before the celebration of Lammas on the 1st of August.
How has your summer been so far?
If I have to be truly honest I think I've had the most difficult months that I can remember I have many factors as to why this feels uncomfortable - mainly being in full menopause and being a solo mama to my daughter transitioning to secondary school that she doesn't want to goto whilst looking after my mama and running my own business and grieving losing my papa (it feels a lot!!) - I want to run to a secluded log cabin and be left alone but I cannot - but I did hear that we have 10% free Will and control and the rest is already predestined, so I am learning to surrender, trust, accept and release and receive. I have stayed close to my practice and I have been authentic in voicing my feelings however uncomfortable that has been but now a new month begins and August is a month of festivals where I can be with kindred spirits and community and feel part of something larger than just the I am of me!!
I've just returned from probably the most beautiful festivals of the year Sundara - where I feel like I am home with my family. It's the most beautiful 5 days Where you are fed and nurtured beyond your wildest dreams. I really want everybody to experience this so I'm telling everybody to come next year as I promise you it will change how you view your life. It is beyond words to describe the feeling I feel about this festival, it truly is like heaven on earth.
I also wanted to let you know a little bit about Lammas which falls on Thursday 1 August and the celebration of this turning of the wheel.
This is the Ripening time. The summer sun is still fiery hot at this time of year. It’s helping to ripen your remaining harvests this season. Nature is opening to the sun, in order to bring forth its fruit in abundance.
The same thing is happening to you. This is the time to open yourself to the power of the sun & allow the fruit you’ve been cultivating to ripen.
Ask yourself:
What is currently ripening in your life?
What are you ready to start harvesting?
Despite the hot days still ahead, the energy of the sun is starting to shift. The days are getting shorter. We’re beginning to see signs of the wheel turning toward late summer.
Lammas brings a flow of vital energy that will fuel you for all the difficult tasks still to come this year.
Harvesting is hard work. Preparing for next year’s growth is hard work. The remaining sun & fire of summer provides us with the energy to finish our work this year. Soak up as much of it as possible.
Be so cautious not to burn yourself out with summer’s intensity.
These late summer days are also days for rest. Rest as much as possible. Use this time to recharge your batteries.
You’ve already been working so hard this summer. Summer is fun & full of adventure, and it is also exhausting. This mid-point of summer reminds you to rest, to refuel for the months ahead. So on Thursday, I hold a beautiful sunrise session to celebrate this day of ripening
We will practice beautiful Yoga contemplate all that Lammas brings , have a fire ceremony and breakfast together and if we feel have a lovely salty swim. The sea is really beautiful at the moment. There are still spaces, so please do let me know if you'd like to come along. So what I have learned from this month is to welcome all our feelings with a sense of love, tenderness and softness and to know that everything changes and in the uncomfortability the Lotus grows and blossoms.
I wanted to share a link to listen to a podcast by an incredible Buddhist Nan called Pema Chondon with Oprah Winfrey - it's a really beautiful podcast to bring in a remembrance that when things fall apart there is gold in it - please listen she's a beautiful speaker.i love you ...thank you for allowing me to share my absolute passion of Yoga with you all it is such an honour. I am always here for you dear ones ...oh my classes are outdoors up until the end of September. Please do come along and connect to your peace inside. It's always lovely to hear from you ...
