Dearest hearts,As we step into the golden heart of summer, I’m writing to you with sandy feet, a full heart, and that delicious tiredness that comes from both celebration and deep living.
This weekend, my beautiful daughter Ines turned 12. We had five girls sleeping over, a garden fire, pancakes for breakfast, and a full day of joyful chaos—from watching the Red Arrows to splashing around the waterpark. It felt like such a precious pause in time… an age where they’re still children but just on the cusp of growing wings. I’m so proud of the girl she’s becoming.
In the midst of this, I’ve been teaching at festivals—sharing kids’ yoga, weaving in story, movement, and joy—and what feels so magical now is that Ines can be by my side. Watching her quietly soak up the energy, the connection, the creativity… it feels like a full-circle moment. These are the things I dreamed of when she was a baby.
I’ve also been holding Zen parties recently—gentle, mindful gatherings where we honour the beauty of being present together. There’s something deeply nourishing about ritualising our celebrations, whatever form they take. Whether it’s welcoming the solstice sunrise, sharing food under the stars, or simply lighting a candle with intention, these moments become sacred when we give them our full attention. It’s a beautiful reminder that celebration doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful—it can be quiet, tender, and deeply connected.
And yes, being a solo mama, holding the work, the home, and the heart of it all—it’s a lot. Some days feel stretched at the edges. But it’s yoga that keeps me rooted. My mat is where I come back to myself. Breath by breath, it’s what helps me carry it all with grace (most of the time!).
As we near the Summer Solstice, nature reaches her peak—a crescendo of light, warmth, and bloom. The solstice is a powerful threshold. After this point, the days begin to slowly shorten again. It’s a moment to pause, to honour the fullness of life, and also begin to turn gently inward. Does life seem that it is going so quickly these days a whole half a year gone already? Darkness returning after the 21st of June. Yoga is so important for us to bring us into the present moment.i've been doing a 40 day Sadhana (study) on the Yoga sutras, The ancient text of Yoga and what I'm getting from it is that everything in our life is practice, how we start the day, how we interact with friends and strangers and how really we live our life. If we can take a pause at the end of the day to look at how far we have come, it makes a difference to ritualise our lives a little more.
This is a beautiful time to reflect:
✨ What have you created or nurtured so far this year?
✨ How have you grown?
✨ What would you love to honour or let go of?
Take a quiet moment with your diary or journal. Look back on the first half of the year and acknowledge how far you’ve come. Often we’re so busy moving forward, we forget to celebrate the journey.
To mark this sacred time, I’d love to invite you to a Solstice-Inspired Yoga & Ritual Morning: These are one of my favourite things to hold. I feel it's so important to celebrate the turning of the Celtic wheel which our ancestors have been doing for thousands of years it connects us to nature, to ourselves and the innate movement of life solstice.
The summer solstice, usually around June 21st, is the longest day of the year—when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky. It’s a time when ancient cultures gathered to honour the sun, the earth’s abundance, and the life-giving force of light. Spiritually and symbolically, the solstice invites us to celebrate growth, expansion, and the fullness of life. We pause to give thanks for all that’s blossomed and to align ourselves with the natural rhythm of light before the days slowly begin to shorten. It’s a moment of power, presence, and deep connection to the earth’s wisdom.
