Dear beautiful you..

A Love Letter for February -

Awakening, Simplicity & the Light Returning

Dear Beautiful Souls,

February is here, bringing with it the quiet stirrings of change. We are re-emerging from winters stillness, stepping gently into the returning light - a time of renewal, clarity, and quiet awakening.

February arrives not with a shout, but with a quiet confidence.

The light is undeniably returning now — still tender, still low in the sky — yet carrying a promise we can feel in our bones. Early spring invites us to notice: the subtle lengthening of days, the birds beginning to practise their songs, the earth stirring beneath its winter cover. Nothing forced. Everything unfolding in its own time.

This February also ushers in the Year of the Fire Horse — a year infused with movement, courage, vitality, and truth. Fire Horse energy is bold and spirited, asking us to live more honestly, more awake, more aligned. It carries a call to freedom and authenticity, reminding us that momentum comes not from pushing, but from listening deeply and then moving with clarity and heart. It’s a year that encourages us to trust our instincts, honour our passions, and step forward with integrity — even if the steps are small.

Last Saturday, as we gathered for Imbolc — Seeds of Intention Imbolc workshop, that sense of quiet ignition was palpable. Fire holding us. The River Dart flowing steadily beside us. An altar shaped by many hands. Yoga, sound healing, medicine-making, and time on the land. There were moments where something softened, something settled, something new was gently welcomed in.

Imbolc is held by Brigid — goddess of the hearth flame, poetry, healing, and new life. She is the keeper of sacred fire and sacred waters, reminding us to tend what is becoming rather than rush what is not yet ready. Brigid teaches us that creativity is a form of devotion, and that care — for our homes, our bodies, our intentions — is a sacred act. At this threshold between winter and spring, she invites us to bless the small sparks and trust they will grow.

As February unfolds and we move toward Valentine’s Day, the invitation feels less about grand gestures and more about the quiet ways we love — how we speak to ourselves, how we nourish our bodies, how we choose gentleness in moments no one else sees. Love, as a daily practice.

When we come to yoga, we don’t come only for ourselves.

We come so our breath steadies, our nervous systems soften, and that coherence ripples outward — into our families, our communities, the wider world. Our practice becomes an offering. A way of benefiting all beings.

This year, I’m consciously welcoming something new. I’ll be attending a five-day course called Improve Your Health, which includes learning around macrobiotics and food as nourishment. Early spring feels like the perfect moment to listen more closely to the body — to notice what truly supports vitality and balance. I’ve always loved offering the food element within my workshops, and this learning feels like a natural deepening of that path.

If you’d like to connect in person, I’ll be exhibiting this Saturday, 7th February, at the Wellbeing Fair at Teignmouth Pavilions, part of A Beautiful World weekend of offerings. There’s a rich programme of talks, treatments, and inspiration — do have a look at their website to see what’s on, and if you’re there, please come and say hi. It would be lovely to see you.

Looking ahead, I’ll also be holding a Spring Equinox Celebration on Saturday, March 21st, honouring the balance of light and dark and the true turning of the year — with time in a private sauna, making our own herbal scrubs and face masks, a gentle nature walk and foraging, yoga, sound healing, shared lunch, and ritual.

Alongside these seasonal gatherings, I offer weekly yoga classes, including my online restorative space Rest, Pause, and Be, and yoga held in beautiful spa settings where you can immerse yourself before or after class. I also offer bespoke holistic treatments, intuitively shaped around where you are, supporting the body’s own wisdom and rhythms.

I want to close by sharing something that was sent to me recently — words that feel like a companion for this moment in the year. I offer them to you as a blessing.

As We Shine Our Light, May We Light the Way for Others

As we celebrate the new year,

may we discover within ourselves

a deep and lasting sense of peace, love, and belonging.

May we learn to pause,

to listen inwardly,

and to meet both joy and uncertainty

with gentleness.

In opening our hearts and minds,

may compassion soften our judgments,

and curiosity take the place of fear.

May this inner openness ripple outward,

shaping the way we speak,

the way we listen,

the way we care for one another.

In the simple, often unseen moments,

may we choose kindness,

patience,

and understanding.

As we shine our light,

may we light the way for others.

May our lives become a shining presence,

steady, sincere, and alive,

offering a living celebration

of peace and love

to all we encounter

in the year ahead.

✍️ Mary Anne Byrne

With love

Nina xx
