Dearest hearts,
Beltane blessings my loves...
This morning I awoke at 5am and made my way down to the beach to light a fire and watch the sunrise. There is something so ancient and magical about standing by the sea at dawn on Beltane. The air felt alive with possibility — the sky slowly turning gold, the warmth of the fire against the cool morning breeze, and that feeling of nature fully awakening after the long winter months.
Beltane has always been one of the most special celebrations of the year for me. To me, it feels like the true beginning of summer — the season of fire, passion, creativity and life force returning. A time to ignite the parts of ourselves that may have been resting quietly through winter. Glennie Kindred speaks so beautifully of Beltane as a festival of vitality, fertility and joy — a celebration of connection to the earth, to each other and to the spark of life within us. I always feel this deeply at this time of year. It invites us to step back into aliveness. To open our hearts. To remember what truly lights us up.
We also have a powerful Full Moon in Scorpio. tonight. Scorpio moons have a way of illuminating what sits beneath the surface. They heighten emotions, intuition and sensitivity, asking us to feel deeply, release what no longer serves us and honour our truth. While Beltane brings fire and outward expression, Scorpio reminds us to also journey inward — to listen carefully to ourselves and trust the wisdom of our emotional world.
April was a very full month for me. I began my macrobiotic studies down in Diptford and have started working one day a week in the office there too, which has been incredibly interesting and inspiring. Learning more about traditional Chinese medicine, energy systems, meridians and how food can nourish and support us so deeply feels like such a natural extension of yoga and holistic living. I’ve loved learning how to cook more wholesome, grounding meals and understanding the energetic qualities behind what we eat.
Ive also just started a 200 hour online traditional hatha yoga teacher training from the incredible studio, the practice in Bali. The teachers are 2nd to none and i'm so honoured to be practising under these highly esteemed teachers. What I receive, I share out to you.
I was also lucky enough to escape to Portugal for four beautiful nights with a dear friend. It was so nourishing to slow down, walk by the sea, eat lovely food and simply rest. Returning home, I’m feeling more and more aware that during this season of menopause my life needs to feel calm, spacious and simple. Less rushing. Less noise. More presence. More softness. More listening to what my body truly needs.
BEACH YOGA STARTS WEDNESDAY 6 MAY
I cannot wait to begin teaching my outdoor yoga classes again next Wednesday 6 May at 7 am at Meadfoot Beach . Early morning beach yoga is honestly one of my favourite things in the world — moving with the sound of the sea, breathing fresh salty air, watching the light change across the water. It feels like medicine for the soul and such a beautiful way to begin the day.
I’m also offering a special Sunrise Beltane Yoga Gathering on Saturday 9th May at 5:45am. We’ll gather on the beach for gentle yoga, a small fire ritual, a nourishing breakfast and perhaps even a morning swim if you feel called. A simple, soulful celebration to honour and anchor in the beginning of summer together.
Now May is here — bringing longer evenings, blossom-covered hedgerows, festivals, bank holidays and that unmistakable feeling of life expanding again. This season always reminds me how important it is to create a life that genuinely feels good to live. A life that feels aligned, nourishing and true for us individually, not simply busy for the sake of being busy.
Yoga continues to be such an integral part of that for me. Not only the movement itself, but the practice of slowing down enough to truly hear ourselves. To breathe more deeply. To soften. To reconnect with what matters. To create space for joy, rest, connection and presence.
A Beltane Blessing
May the fires of Beltane warm your heart,
May the returning sun awaken your spirit,
May the wildflowers remind you to bloom in your own way,
And may the earth beneath your feet
Guide you gently home to yourself.
May you dance with life again,
With passion in your soul,
Softness in your heart,
And light upon your path.
May this month bring you warmth, inspiration, passion and peace in equal measure.
May you honour your own rhythms.
May you make space for what lights you up.
With love always,
Nina x
