October Love Letter šŸ¤Ž

From my heart to yours

Hello, lovely souls,

September was such a beautiful month. I had the joy of sharing yoga on an incredible pontoon on a private lake, serenaded by kingfishers, and we finished our sunrise yoga season with the Autumn Equinox — quite possibly the most perfect sunrise of the year. Watching the sun rise is one of my favourite things in the world, and I feel so grateful for these moments of connection with nature.

The past week, I’ve been poorly with an ear and jaw infection, which has forced me to slow down and be still and even cancel classes which I never do. It humbles me when my health reminds me just how precious it is, and how important it is to take care of ourselves.

I’ve also just completed Module Four of my one-year course with the International Macrobiotic School, as I continue my journey towards becoming a wholefood chef. As part of this, I’ve been experimenting with leaving out alcohol, meat and sugar for a month, exploring how different foods make me feel. It’s been an interesting journey of learning, listening and becoming more aware of what truly nourishes me.

As I write this, it’s a cold, rainy October day. There’s a certain melancholy that comes with this time of year, as we move towards Samhain and the darker months. I find myself thinking of those who are no longer here, and holding friends and family who are navigating illness and difficult times.

Recently, I listened to Mortal, a podcast by Bruce Parry exploring what it means to be alive and our relationship with death. It brought me a sense of comfort and perspective, and I’ve included it here in case it speaks to you, too.

Life holds so much, doesn’t it? Birth and death, joy and sorrow, highs and lows, sickness and health. We cannot always choose what life brings, but perhaps we can find small ways to meet ourselves with a little more kindness along the way.

This is what I love about yoga. You don’t need to arrive feeling a certain way. You can come exactly as you are, and through breath, gentle movement and stillness, create a little space for yourself. Sometimes that space is all we need to soften, reconnect and allow things to shift.

As we move deeper into autumn, I hope you can find little ways to nourish yourself. Warm, comforting food, an early night, a walk amongst the trees, a good book, candlelight, a cup of tea, restorative movement or time with the people you love. The smallest things can sometimes make the biggest difference.

A little invitation to NOURISH ✨

On Saturday 21 November, I’ll be joined by the wonderful Cass Duguay, who is travelling from Wales and has a voice like an angel (even better then Charlotte Church) she brings tears to my eyes every time she sings - we want to offer a very special day of nourishment and self-care overlooking the beautiful River Dart before the crazy of December and Christmas busyness.

Imagine a cosy space by the fire, sheepskin rugs, warming tea and homemade biscuits, time in nature, restorative yoga, a delicious homemade lunch, beautiful rose facials, journaling and precious time simply to rest and be.

Cass will guide us through an immersive sound journey, using her exquisite voice, traditional handmade gongs, Himalayan singing bowls and other instruments. You’ll be invited to pause, relax and immerse yourself in the beautiful vibrations of sound, helping you settle your nervous system, release tension and leave feeling calmer, more centred and restored.

There’ll be space throughout the day to slow down, reconnect with yourself and enjoy being cared for — away from the busyness of everyday life. A whole day dedicated to nourishing your mind, body and spirit, just before the Christmas rush begins.

Saturday 21 November | 11am–6pm | Ā£85

Spaces are limited to just 12 people. Please book online.

A little invitation to slow down, receive and nourish yourself. šŸ¤Ž

Where to find me this month 🌿

Wednesday 14 October — Final Beach Yoga of the Season šŸŒ…

Our final beach yoga gathering of the season is coming up! We’ll meet by the sea before the sun rises, sharing one last opportunity to move, breathe and welcome the morning together. Sunrise in Torquay is around 7:34am, and I can’t think of a more beautiful way to honour the changing season and our time together by the sea.

Sunday — Community Yoga | 9:30–10:30am

Join us for Sunday morning community yoga at The Foyer, Teignmouth Road, Torquay. Our classes continue throughout the winter with a minimum donation of just £5, helping to keep yoga accessible to everyone. Beginners are always welcome. Come as you are and take an hour for yourself in a warm, supportive space.

Monday — Yoga at The Imperial Hotel | 7:30pm

A lovely evening practice to ease into the week. There’s also the option to enjoy the spa facilities beforehand, with access to the sauna, swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room for just Ā£5 instead of the usual Ā£15.

Wednesday — Online Restorative Yoga | 7:30–8:30pm on Zoom

A gentle, restorative practice from the comfort of your own home. Get cosy, roll out your mat and give yourself permission to slow down, soften and restore. An hour just for you, to settle your nervous system and reconnect with yourself.

I continue to offer holistic treatments, too, for anyone looking for a little extra care and nurturing.

Please get in touch if you’d like to know more about any of the classes, treatments or our November retreat. I’d love to see you.

Thank you for being part of this lovely community and for continuing to show up for yourselves and one another.

As the days grow shorter and the world around us slows down, may we remember that we don’t always need to do more. Sometimes we simply need to pause, breathe and allow ourselves to be held by the moment.

A little October blessing šŸ‚

May this season remind you that there is beauty in slowing down, wisdom in letting go and nourishment in the simplest of things.

May you find warmth on the colder days, light in the darker moments and gentleness for yourself when life feels uncertain.

May you honour what is passing, welcome what is changing and trust that even in the quiet, something within you is being restored.

And may you always remember that you don’t have to bloom all year round.

Sometimes, like the trees, you are allowed to let go, turn inward and simply be.

Sending you all so much love as we move into the darker months.

With love,

Nina x

Breathe, love, laugh, be kind + be grateful
